Phone codes

Signing in on your computer and waiting for a text? Pearl Pass spots the code on your phone and offers it in the browser, end-to-end encrypted, so you don't have to type it.

How it works

With notification access turned on, the Pearl Pass app looks for a verification code in new notifications on the phone itself. When it finds one it sends a single encrypted record to your browser.

  • Notification text is never uploaded, stored or sent anywhere
  • Notifications without a code are ignored
  • The code is encrypted with your account key, so we can't read it

Short-lived by design

Each code expires after five minutes. There's only ever one waiting per account, and our server deletes it automatically within minutes.

Only where you need it

Your browser asks for a code only while a verification-code field is showing on a secure (https) page. If the message names a website, the code is offered only on that site, and it's filled only when you click Use this code.

2FA codes in your vault

Save authenticator (TOTP) secrets next to your logins — scan the QR code with your phone's camera — and Pearl Pass shows the current code when you sign in.

Your choice

Phone codes are on by default in the app once you grant notification access, and you can turn them off in Settings at any time.
